The success of Scansteel and its clients hinges on four key factors: accuracy, effectiveness, robustness, and reliability. When Scansteel manufactures and delivers machinery, it is essential that everything goes according to plan, ensuring their clients are operational from day one. An accurate, effective, and robust weighing system is a critical component in Scansteel’s deliverables to their clients.
The environments in which scansteel and its customers operate are often harsh, with rigorous cleaning protocols and heavy-duty operations. “Eilersen weighing cells endure intense cleaning and harsh, wet environments, with forklifts frequently moving around. The weighing system needs to be robust, reliable, and accurate—and Eilersen delivers,” says Leif Hansen, Electrical Manager at Scansteel.
Typically, a Scansteel maschine is installed on two or four compression load cells connected to a PLC via a digital Fieldbus interface. The load cells can operate under the following conditions:
- A working weight of up to 200 tons.
- Internal working temperatures ranging from 40 to 180℃.
- Horizontal expansion of the machine of up to 18 mm.
- Welding on machines during installation
Leif Hansen has been a part of Scansteel for almost a decade. He understands the harshness of the environment. In some industries, it is easier to keep machinery clean, but when working with process machinery such as grinders and mixers for the food industry, the equipment needs thorough cleaning to ensure the highest possible quality of the final product (typically paté, dog food, or similar products). For this reason, the Eilersen loadweighing cells are also exposed to intense cleaning protocols.
“Machinery in this industry needs to be clean. I suspect that the cleaning process in our industry is rougher than you would normally see. But that is part of the game. In rough environments, we need to be certain that the weighing system is accurate and reliable—even after rigorous cleaning. That’s why we rely on Eilersen,” Leif concludes.
